Secure Seas is comprised of a group individuals from the maritime and finance industry, all of whom have a desire to relieve modern seafarers and their families of a cumbersome, inequitable and antiquated payroll system.
Originator of the Seafarer Foundation and Secure Seas concept, James has many years’ experience in the maritime industry, firstly as marketing / advertising consultant to ASP Ship Management and then with hands-on roles providing welfare to international seafarers whilst in the Port of Melbourne at the Mission to Seafarers Victoria and Stella Maris Seafarers’ Centre.
James brings his unique strategic marketing and ability to identify and understand products and the services required to builds brands and develop sales to ensure continued product and market growth.
A maritime industry consultant with a flair for technology & start-ups, Warwick’s name is synonymous with maritime safety, environmental sustainability, and seafarer welfare.
Awarded an Order of Australia (AM) in 2018 for his contribution to the international maritime industry, Warwick was the founding CEO of RightShip leading the company from 2001 – 2018 to become a global authority on maritime safety and environmental sustainability.
A practiced Executive specialising in the financial markets with over 30 years' experience working across the Asia-Pacific & USA, Glen has a detailed appreciation of Foreign Exchange and International payments, having held roles with American Express and Standard Chartered Bank.
Together with his family background in the maritime industry, Glen's knowledge of the cards and payments industry and the workings of financial services technology is a valuable asset to the Secure Seas program.
Nigel manages his own maritime industry consultancy, N J Porteous & Associates. A foreign going ships master by trade, Nigel has been part of the maritime world for most of his working life, serving on ships in Port Line Ltd (UK), Jardine Matheson (Hong Kong) Burns Philp (Australia) and Pacific Island Shipping Corp (PNG).
As well as his Masters’ certificate Nigel has been involved all aspects of marine insurance, marine surveying, pilotage, ship brokerage and various marine equipment agencies as well as PNG Correspondent to principal UK P&I Clubs.
Other roles include Director, ASP Pacific Holdings; Managing Director with British Airways subsidiary IAL; Managing Director at Shark Cat Holdings Pty Ltd.
Nigel is currently Vice Chairman, Mission to Seafarers Victoria Inc. and Assistant Warden of the Company of Master Mariners, Melbourne.
An independent auditing consultant, Ken’s work includes conducting business development and technical reviews for the National Chartered Accounting partnership.
Starting his career with KPMG, Ken has held many senior management and partnership positions and has been involved in leading the business growth, partnerships and mergers of leading accounting and advisory firms.
